Day 3 Stephanie

Breakfast: bacon and eggs, didn't figure you needed a pic of that :)
Snack: green banana, almonds
Lunch: can of tuna, black olives (even though violet ate most of them) almonds, half avocado
Dinner
This salad and some cottage cheese.

I am stuffy, grumpy, tired and have a slight headache. Today was hard. I wS dying for something sweet. I searched the 21 day detox book and decided on the apple cinnamon donuts. I won't bore you with details but they are nasty and I'm sad.
I have to admit I think about food a lot, I like eating good food, I like sugar. Here's to the cravings subsiding soon. There are a lot of things I start and don't finish, I will finish this and I will learn from it. I will let God work and I will learn.

Day 3 for T - 21DSD

Breakfast:
6 slices hard salami, cheese stick and a green apple. Oh, and a beautifully delicious large cup of coffee with heavy cream.
Mmmmmm....

Snack: 10 almonds.
Was not hungry after each.
So foreign to me!

Lunch:
Ice water, 4 slices shaved smoked turkey, cheese stick and 1 package of Multi-Grain Medley. I love this stuff! I added a tablespoon of real butter and sprinkled it with garlic powder and steak seasoning.
Delish!

How I feel:
I woke up feeling like crud! I fell asleep in the recliner last night, woke up at 12:15, washed the dinner dishes and cleaned the kitchen and went to bed. Slept like poo. Woke up late with a headache, back ache, runny stuffy nose and lots of pressure around my eyes. I thought, "Oh, great...now I'M sick, too."

After telling Stephanie, she pointed out that the book says on day 3 you may have flu-like symptoms. WHAT?!?!? So I'm not sick? And it's Day 3. It's Sugar Detox Crud-like feelings!
Happy, and still somewhat amazed.

Dinner:
Wednesday night dinner at church...homemade stromboli. Of course.
I ate 3, but just the filling of meats, cheese, mushrooms, bell pepper and olives. And a few handfuls of baby carrots. And water.

Snack: A handful of oven roasted almonds.

Day 3 "Am I Going To Make It Through This?"

You may experience: Fatigue, cold- and flu-like symptoms, low blood sugar, or self-doubt. Day 3 is the beginning of some of the hardest days for most folks!
Your best bet is to: Realize that you are not likely experiencing a "real" cold or flu, but the effects of detoxing from sugar. Be careful not to rush off to the doctor; just know that this reaction is common and will subside within a few days. Focus on the positives that are ahead - liberation from your cravings and a healthier you inside and out.

21 dsd day 2 Stephanie

Yeah breakfast
I've had better but it's 3 eggs and a green apple

Lunch, black olives, almonds, cucumber, and grapefruit. I ended up eating all the grapefruit. And drinking the juice squeezed out of it was awesome!
Dinner. Shrimp sautéed in butter and garlic, topped with sour cream, wholly guacamole and tomatoes. Salad with oil and vinegar dressing.
Snacks were a banana, almonds and cottage cheese.
I felt exceptionally better today than yesterday. However, I was very very hungry today, so I ate.
I went to walmart, which was hard. I wanted all kinds of junk I can't and shouldn't eat. This detox is definitely a lesson in self control.
I feel good and only a twinge of a headache.

Day 2 for T - 21DSD

I did it!!!
Brian woke me up when he was leaving for work, just before 5am. We've been doing this for a few weeks now. I told him to wake me up before he leaves, and to leave the bedroom light on.
This morning, even though it was around 5:12am, I actually got out of bed, put on my tennis shoes, stumbled down the stairs and hopped on the treadmill.

My goal was 10 minutes on the treadmill and 10 min on the stationary bike.
Half mile...eh, better than nothing.

Um...let's just round that out to 2 miles. Ok?
Man, that bike is old...

Ok. Breakfast:
That is kind of funny looking, I know.
I grabbed 2 boiled eggs from the fridge and a handful of roast beef.
Actually, I ate it like this:
YUM!!!

A little "cheat" that I'm not too happy about...
Remember I said I ran out of heavy cream yesterday? Yeah...no cream for my coffee. SO...instead I did one small teaspoon of my non dairy powder creamer. I know! I know...not allowed. But the coffee is important to my productivity in the morning. And my attitude. And my happiness.
I will go to the store today and get the proper items I need.

More to come later!

*UPDATE*

Same snack...almonds. Just a few.
I really wasn't that hungry after eating breakfast, but it was 10:30 so I ate the almonds.

Lunch: I had to run a few errands, so by the time I got home, I had just enough time to have a quick chat with Brian, make a salad and run back out the door.
Once I got to work to eat, I was almost done when I realized I didn't take a pic yet. Oops!
One entire romaine heart, 1 boiled egg, 2 mushrooms, 4 chives and some shredded cheddar cheese. Is that allowed? I should check. Oh, and my homemade vinegar and oil dressing.

I'm full! :)

Dinner: this is a crappy pic because my phone was almost dead and had no flash. Wah wah wah, first world problems...
Anyhow. I went to the store and bought a bunch of goodies. Whole fait dairy: milk, sour cream, butter, cheese, cream cheese. YES!
Greens. Grapefruit. Lots and lots of Yes foods.
And since I can have all meats...
I cooked 1 1/2 pounds of ground beef and added a cup of brown minute rice, cumin and steak seasoning. I also prepped all the extras to make tacos. Except I just made a taco salad, just with the lettuce, along with half a red pear and a green mini banana. Doesn't get much greener than that little thing! But it was very good. A delicious and filling meal.

After putting the boys to bed and before watching a little TV, I grabbed a small handful of dry roasted almonds, a much healthier snack than ice cream. I notice I ate a lot slower when I eat almonds, just to enjoy the small amount!

Day 2 "This Isn't So Bad" Or "Will This Get Easier?!"

You may experience: No symptoms at all, or headaches, mental fogginess, or hunger.
Your best bet is to: Keep trucking! Make sure that your meals are well balanced with enough protein and fat, along with the appropriate carbs according to your level or modifications.

Day 1 21dsd Stephanie

Well I made the mistake of baking 4 loaves of banana bread the night before this detox :) silly, so when the babe woke up to nurse at 1:30am I ate some. Yep I realized it was then or never. It was delicious btw.
So day one breakfast. 3 egg omelet with mushrooms and some strawberries which actually is a no no but I didn't know that :)

Lunch was quinoa with sautéed mushrooms, peppers and chicken.

I had almonds and some raw milk plain yogurt for a snack.

Dinner was this. It was ok ;) I'd would've liked a huge piece of bread.
The weird half green thing is avocado just looks odd in the pic.

I had a small piece of cheese and a cucumber also.

In summation today sucked, my head hurts so much and I want ice cream. Like now. Hopefully tomorrow's post will be better but right now I want to go bang my head against the wall so this is it.
Ps. I was drinking at least one 16 oz pepsi a day, tons of bread, probably 5-6 pieces of candy and by candy I mean a chocolate bunny or half a box of peeps. Heck two nights ago I polished off a pint of chocolate therapy (Ben and Jerry's) so let's just say  this is hard for me.

Day 1 for T - 21DSD

My breakfast:
Black coffee with two eggs, sliced fresh mushrooms and chopped chives

Feeling ok. Not deprived. Full and happy so far.
I could go with some creamer in my coffee, though. And I just found out that Week 1 allows FULL FAT dairy. So tomorrow...heavy cream in the coffee!

(Will update snacks and other meals later in the day.)

I definitely need to incorporate some kind of exercise. I have a treadmill and elliptical that I can use. I went to bed early last night and still couldn't get up before 6am. If I'm going to workout, I need to do it in the morning before the kids wake up. I must try harder tomorrow! I can find time to do things that I feel are important. So I just need to make this a priority.

*Update*

Ok, so much for the workout priority. It's 10:23pm and I just went to bed. I chose to watch my DVR shows over going to bed early so I can get up early and walk on the treadmill.I clearly have issues.

Anyhow...The food.

I had a handful of smoked almonds for a mid-morning snack. Yipee.

For lunch I had 3 boiled eggs and couscous. Big boo boo! I won't bore you with the quinoa mixup...which I can have. But didn't. The couscous was delicious! But a no-no.

No afternoon snack.
Almost ate a pouch of gummies with the boys. I felt so sad...like I was betrayed somehow.

Dinner...

While I made the boys' fav (cut up hot dogs in mac & cheese),
I made my own little dinner...

1 diced chicken breast in a pan with oil, a cup of frozen spinach, 2 large sliced mushrooms, 5 chopped chives and lots of garlic and pepper. Served with a romaine salad with vinegar and oil dressing and a green apple that I later sprinkled with cinnamon. Filling and yummy!

After the guys were asleep, I went to the pantry looking for a snack.
Nothing.
Wait! All natural peanut butter!
Dang. Sugar is the 3rd ingredient.
There's the mint fudge Oreos.
And the vanilla wafer cookies.
And wheat thins.
And pretzels.
Mmmm...chips and salsa.
Noooo!
I ran to the fridge. Boiled egg? UGH...no.
Aha! I grabbed a handful of roast beef and shoved it in my mouth.
Yes...now I'm full again.

And then I realized what little heavy cream I had left, I used in the mac & cheese since I ran out of milk. So no cream in my coffee tomorrow.
I may cry myself to sleep.
Can I use powder creamer? First ingredient...corn syrup.
Seriously?

Praying for a better food day tomorrow.
And that I can live another day without gum.

21 Day Sugar Detox Starts TODAY!

The 21-Day Sugar Detox, also known as 21DSD, is a real-foods based program designed to reduce and/or eliminate your cravings for sugar and carbohydrates.

There are 3 levels, Weeks 1, 2 & 3, where certain foods are allowed each week.

Fore more information, check out this website.

We are praying that we will stay strong, do well and see great results!

Day 1 "I Got This!"

You may experience: No effects at all, or possibly some extremely strong cravings. You may feel extra hungry (this is why I remind you that this isn't a diet and that if you feel hungry, you should eat from your Yes foods list!), or you may feel like you are eating a lot. This new approach may mean eating a lot more food than you're used to - and that's okay!
Your best bet is to: Roll with the positivitiy that Day 1 brings.

Who Are We?

Tonya is a 36 year old mom of 2 boys (and stepmom to 2 grown "kids"), been married for 15 years and is trying to break her addiction to gummy bears, all things candy and carbs.

Stephanie is a 34 32 year old mom of 3, been married for 6 years and is trying to break her addiction to Wild Cherry Pepsi!

We both have super high cholesterol and a family history of heart issues. We are tired of being tired, want more energy and want to be here for our kids as along as possible. So this is us trying to do the best we can, and use each other for accountability.

But we also may need a coach/trainer to yell at us every now and then.

Anyone interested?
